Magic Book v1.0

Magic Book v1.0 is my project for Professor Alan Liu's Hyperliterature class which was offered in Fall 2000 as part of the UC Santa Barbara English Department Transcriptions project.

It was designed using Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev and is powered by an Access database running in ASP v2.0 with VBScript.

Magic Book is my attempt to provide a model for a form of literary criticism which can harness the power of hypertext. It is inspired by Roland Barthes's S/Z and attempts to emulate its illustrious predeccessor in offering a "starred" close reading of a literary text combined with theorizing on the nature of textuality.
