A unique conference that brings together scholars,
artists, critics, designers, screenwriters, producers, architects,
programmers, and business leaders to share their view of contemporary
entertainment and its future. Presented by the UC Santa Barbara
Public Humanities Initiative. Free admission to the public.

Conference Location & Directions

From
the Santa Barbara Airport
|
|
| UCSB is within sight of the Santa Barbara Airport, and
takes about 3 minutes by cab. If driving, head south on
Moffett Place and merge onto Highway 217 South (Ward Memorial
Blvd.). Continue to the East Gate of the University. If
you need a parking pass purchase it from the ticket gate,
and ask for a map or directions from the teller. Proceed
straight through the gate, and merge right onto Mesa Road.
Three lighted intersections later, turn left onto Ocean
Road. Bear right at the stop sign to stay on Ocean Road,
then take your first left at the El Colegio intersection.
The road terminates in three parking lots. Turn into the
right parking lot, and the HSSB Humanities and Social Sciences
Building (the site of the March 8-10 2002 Conference) is
immediately on your left. All sessions will be held in the
McCune Room, 6020 HSSB. |

Driving North on US 101 take the UC Santa
Barbara/Highway 217. Follow 217 (Ward Memorial Blvd.)

Road/UCSB exit and drive south (toward the ocean) to a
"T" junction with El Colegio Road. Turn left onto El Colegio
Road and you will pass through the West Gate of the University.
If you need a parking pass purchase it from the ticket
gate, and ask for a map or directions from the teller.
Continue on El Colegio Road through the intersection with
Ocean. The road terminates in three parking lots. Turn
into the right parking lot, and the HSSB Humanities and

The Bath
Street Inn is located at 1720 Bath Street in downtown
Santa Barbara.
To reach the inn from 101 Northbound: Exit
at Arrellaga Street and turn right on West Arrellaga.
Turn Left on Bath Street. The Inn will be approximately
.1 miles from the turn on the right.
From 101 Southbound: Exit at Mission Street
and turn left on West Mission. Turn Right on Bath Street.
The Inn will be approximately .3 miles from the turn on
the left.
Directions to Campus from the Bath Street
Inn: Take Arrellaga or Mission back to 101. Merge onto
101 North and follow the above directions.
Returning to the Bath Street Inn from Campus:
Follow the directions from 101 Southbound.

The Glenborough
Inn is located at 1327 Bath Street in the heart of
downtown Santa Barbara.
To reach the inn from 101 Northbound: Exit
at Carillo Street. Turn right on West Carillo. Turn left
on Bath Street. The Inn will be approximately .3 miles
from the turn on the left.
From 101 Southbound: Exit at Carillo Street.
Turn left on West Carillo. Turn left on Bath Street. The
Inn will be approximately .3 miles from the turn on the
left.
Directions to Campus from the Glenborough
Inn: Take Carillo back to 101. Merge onto 101 North and
follow the above directions.
Returning to the Glenborough Inn from Campus:
Follow the directions from 101 Southbound.

Directions
From Campus:
Take Highway 217 Northbound to Highway 101 Southbound.
Drive South on 101 for about 5 miles. Exit Las Positas
Road. Turn Left toward the Mountains. Follow Las Positas
for about 1 mile. Turn Right on State Street. AJA is about
.2 miles down State Street on the left.
From The Bath Street Inn / The Glenborough Inn:
Starting from Bath Street heading North take a right on
any of the intersecting streets (West Islay, West Sola,
etc.). Turn Left on State Street. AJA is about 1.5 - 2
miles up State Street on the right. Parking is available
both on the street and behind the restaurant.
