English 10 introduces students to literary critical thought, including (but not limited to) close reading, argumentation, analytical text discussion, research, and composition. In this section, we will read novels, poetry, drama, and critical theory on the topics of cultural materialism and professional life from the modern and postmodern literary periods. In comparing these two periods, this course employs various critical perspectives to study an evolving cultural discourse on consumer life.
