Social Science Paper Peer Review

Is the history of this issue clear?
Does the researcher explain why the topic was worth researching?
Is any previous research cited? What is it?
What is the researcher’s hypothesis?

Methods:
Does the researcher explain the procedure clearly?
Could you perform this exact experiment with these instructions? Why or why not?
What population is being surveyed?

Survey:
Read through the survey for this paper. Do you see any leading questions?
Note any potential biases for the researcher.

Results - Textual and Visual:
Did the results support the hypothesis?
Is the textual representation of the result easy to follow?
Are the graphics clear and relevant?
Are good quotes chosen?
Is the language here entirely objective?

Discussion:
Is the analysis logical? Interesting?
Does the researcher take into account
How is this section related to the introduction?
The hypothesis?
What were some unusual findings?
Give the researcher a question for future study.
Present a limiting factor.

Conclusion:
Is the experiment closed effective?
How has it contributed to the larger debate?

References: Cite your resources using APA documentation (see Hacker 365).

Extra Credit:
Does the author have extra credit articles? Are they relevant?
