Important Dates for Financial Aid Recipients
|
December 15, 2001: Fees for Winter quarter 2002 must be paid or deferred with the BARC
Office (893-2155) by 4 p.m. on this date. If you are a financial aid recipient, your financial
aid will be automatically credited to your BARC account as long as you are enrolled in a minimum
of 6 units prior to this date. You should check the status of your BARC account on the GOLD system.
For more information on this process, refer to pages 13 and 14 in the Winter 2002 Schedule of
Classes.
|
January 1, 2002: The 2002-2003 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be filed
with the federal processor. If you wish to be considered for financial aid, you must re-apply each
year. Be sure to list UC Santa Barbara, school code #001320, in Step 6 of the FAFSA. The FAFSA is
available at all high schools, colleges, and universities across the U.S. It can also be filed
electronically on the internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Note: If you filed a FAFSA for the 2001-2002 academic year, the federal processor will automatically
send you a "Renewal" FAFSA in the mail in late January or early February. If you do not receive the
"Renewal FAFSA" in the mail and it is getting close to the March 2, 2002 priority filing deadline,
file a regular paper FAFSA or file an electronic FAFSA on the internet.
|
March 2, 2002: This is the priority filing deadline for UCSB financial aid and for Cal Grants.
Students who file a FAFSA after this deadline will only be considered for federal Pell Grants and student
loans. Students who file the paper version of the FAFSA should obtain a "certificate of mailing" from the
U.S. Post Office as proof that they filed by the priority filing deadline.
|
March 15, 2002: Fees for Spring quarter 2002 must be paid or deferred with the BARC Office (893-2155)
by 4 p.m. on this date. If you are a financial aid recipient, your financial aid will be automatically

April 15, 2002: This is the deadline to file your 2001 federal tax return with the Internal Revenue
Service. Note that you can file your 2002-2003 FAFSA using estimated income tax information. Do not wait to
file your FAFSA until your taxes are prepared so that you can still meet the March 2, 2002 priority filing
FAFSA deadline. Tax credits - you can access information on educational tax credits at the following web
