English majors
are strongly advised to check this link on a weekly
basis for any important reminders or scheduling updates.
Progress Checks
Juniors (84-134.9 units) may request
one progress check of degree requirements from the College
of Letters and Science. Seniors (135 units or more)
may request one progress check from the Office of the
Registrar. These checks will evaluate your progress
toward unit requirements, Subject A, American History
and Institutions and General Education Program requirements.
You may request a progress check from the undergraduate
advisor in English at any time and as many times
as you need. It is recommended that you do these departmental
progress checks on a quarterly basis. If you are a senior,
it is especially important that you see the departmental
undergraduate advisor during the first quarter you are
a senior to make sure you are taking the appropriate
classes for the degree.
EAP Advising
If you are planning to participate
in the EAP program be sure to meet with Professor
Michael O'Connell, EAP advisor for the English department
(South Hall 2721). If you have an application for the
EAP program that needs to be approved, he will sign
it. You should know which courses you plan to take so
that he can advise you on which requirements they will
fulfill. Once he has approved your study list, you should
bring it to Ann Wainwright, the English undergraduate
advisor (South Hall 2607) and she will put a copy
of it in your file.
