J.S. Ward is a PhD student in the English Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his B.A. in English Education at California State University, Long Beach. He has a background in military intelligence and the defense industry prior to his arrival at UCSB. His research focuses on literary conceits of power, kingship, moods of combat, and hierarchies within medieval texts and textualities of the British Isles.
