Our 2023 English Majors Commencement Reception took place on June 18, 2023. Family, friends, and the department community gathered to honor English Department prize winners and outstanding students, and to recognize those who chose to complete one of our eight major specializations.

As Faculty Speaker Professor Alan Liu proposed a timely challenge to our grads: “What is Good Writing in the Age of ChatGPT?”  Professor Liu’s talk emphasized the major’s intense engagement with the ethics as well as the technologies of writing.
